Jama Training Redesign

The Challenge:

The original Jama requirements-management training was generating mixed feedback from R&D teams, with no clear path to improvement. Engineers across experience levels were spending excessive time completing it.

My Solution:

Conducted blunt-feedback interviews with project leaders, senior engineers, and novice users to surface the real pain points. Redesigned the course in Storyline 360 with a built-in Jama simulation, giving learners an authentic practice environment before touching the live system.

The Impact:

Average completion time dropped from 23 days to 9 — a 61% reduction — with significantly more consistent completion patterns post-redesign, indicating improved engagement, not just speed.

E-Learning Development (NSF Project)

The Challenge:

A $476K NSF-funded project needed an online platform to train rural science teachers on Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) — teachers with no practical access to face-to-face professional development.

My Solution:

Designed and built interactive e-learning modules covering Chapters 1–4 using DominKnow, equivalent to 188 pages of textbook content. Served as one of two instructional designers supporting the research team.

The Impact:

Delivered scalable, accessible professional development to rural teachers. The project contributed to published research comparing online and face-to-face training outcomes.

Online Course Design and Development

The Challenge:

Two faculty needed an instructional designer to build the first online driver education endorsement program in Kansas from scratch.

My Solution:

Created a QM-aligned blueprint mapping program outcomes to module objectives, activities, and assessments. Designed engaging courses featuring cohesive visual theming, clear navigation, and varied interactive activities.

The Impact:

Enrollment exceeded expectations, requiring additional class sessions. Continued uninterrupted through COVID, validating the online design.
